About Datamation

Formed in 1993, Datamation Limited are the leading PLM consultancy and analyst firm in Europe, and are specialists in the area of Data Integration and Interoperability. Data Integration and Interoperability related  problems are estimated to cost industry 40% of all IT budget and hence are two of the major issues facing industry today.

To this end, Datamation, together with technology and implementation partners, have designed a complete programme and methodologies to help companies develop and implement the Data Integration and Business Engineering strategies described in the Datamation PLM Model Report.

The Datamation PLM Vision

Interoperability Problems arise because of the disjointedness and scatter of information assets in the databases of proprietary and custom built systems as well as on various legacy media.

Datamation believes that the solution to these problems requires a new approach as described in the Datamation PLM Model report: "Product Lifecycle Management - How it can drive your business".

The Datamation PLM Model departs from the traditional application/technology centric approach. In stead, it focuses on maximising investment in a company's information assets.

Our history

In 1993 Datamation launched the Engineering Data Newsletter (EDN). This soon became established as the definitive reference publication on Product Lifecycle Management and associated standards and methodologies for engineering and manufacturing organisations around the globe. Monthly in-depth features on the burning issues surrounding product data management and computer aided technologies made it essential reading for senior managers and executives in most industry sectors, including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, electrical & electronic, oil & gas, process, shipping and telecoms, as well as those in virtually all the major solution providers.
